DEDICATION
Every day I look back over my life and all the things I have been through. All I can say is thank God I don’t look like the struggles and the obstacles I have encountered. It’s not a day that goes by that I don’t remember the Hell I came out of. A lot of people thought they knew my story and a lot of people judged it, but to those people I say this. Everything in life is a learning lesson. No matter how messed up our decisions were, you can still come back from them. When I started writing No Way Out, I didn’t know this many people would get to read my story. I always knew I had a story to tell, but I wasn’t sure who would listen. Would they get the message, would they understand that I poured my heart and soul into this book, would they receive it in the same way that it was written? To this day I still don’t know the answers to those questions, but I do know that my story was heard. I have been through it all, but I am here to tell my story and teach my daughter to avoid the same roads I have traveled. I have overcome those hardships and I am now on to new journeys. Being an Autism Mom is more difficult than anything I have ever gone through in my life, but I wouldn’t change it. My daughter brings me so much happiness and I feel bad to anybody who will never get the chance to know her. She is funny, smart, witty, bad, curious, awesome, bratty, loving, caring, stingy, friendly, and mean all at the same time. I know you are saying to yourself, she sounds like any other child out there. But she is not, because she is mine. My world and my life, my heartbeat and my heartache, my sunshine, and my rain. She is Miracle Monet Riley. A piece to the puzzle and the key to my heart.

CHAPTER 1- AURI
“Make sure you turn in your papers by the end of today. You can submit them online. Have a great Christmas vacation and I will see you all in two weeks.” It seemed like my professor was talking forever. I couldn’t wait to get home to see my family. “Auriana, can I talk to you before you head out?” Rolling my eyes where he couldn’t see, I made my way over to my teacher. I needed to go pack and get on the highway and his ass wanted to hold me up. Walking over to him, I put on a phony smile.
“Hey Professor Winston what’s up.”
“I just wanted to remind you to let your family know about the ceremony we are having for the Dean’s list. You rank number one in the entire school and I want your family here to be a part of this achievement.”
“I already told them. They are more excited than I am. My mom already bought her dress.”
“That’s good. I can’t wait to meet them. I will see you soon. Enjoy yourself, you deserve it.”
“Thank you and make sure you loosen up on this vacation.” Laughing we parted ways. Walking to my room, I took a minute to reflect. Who would have ever thought the smartest person in Harvard University would be a black student? A female at that. Auriana Prescott. At twenty one years of age and six months left of school, I was proud of myself. Maintaining a GPA of 4.9 and ranking number one, there was nothing that could hold me back now. My best friend brought me out of my thoughts.
“What the fuck are you thinking about girl? You don’t have a man.” Jessica has been my friend since freshman year of high school. We were like night and day, but we were both smart as hell and that is what initially bonded us. When people see us together, they never understand our friendship.
“I was just thinking of how proud I am of myself.”
“Girl, get the fuck out of here. It’s Christmas break and your ass standing here dreaming about school. If you don’t bring your ass on.” Shaking my head at her, we made our way toward the dorm room.
“You tried it Jess. Let’s go pack, I can’t wait to get some of that Chicago food.” Thinking about all the food we have been missing, we both picked up our pace and ran to our room to pack. Once we were done we headed to the train station to head home.
“Will your parents be there or are you staying at my house?” Jess parents were always gone. She came from money and stayed in the Suburbs. They were always traveling somewhere. It didn’t bother Jess because she could do what she wanted.
“You know they ass gone, but I ain’t mad because a bitch can turn up in peace. If they were here I would be shown off like a damn show pony.”
“My mom is going to be happy. You know she thinks you are her child.”
“Tell mama Les she is not going to be taking up my time, I will definitely be turning up. Just so you know, your ass is turning up with me. I’m tired of you going home sitting in the house studying and shit. It’s a party tonight and I want you to go with me.” Rolling my eyes at her, I decided to agree because I knew she wouldn’t leave me alone about it.
“I will go to one party with you. Jess you know that’s not my thing, but I will go this one time.” Smiling from ear to ear, she started doing some dance out of excitement.
“That’s all I’m asking dang. Once you see how lit it is, your ass gone go again.” Closing my eyes, I decided to catch some sleep because I knew I wouldn’t get anymore once I got home. Between my parents and jess, today was going to be a long day.
Once we got off the train, we called an Uber to take us to my place. Now me and my family, we lived in the hood. My parents owned their house and I guess that’s why they wouldn’t move to a better neighborhood. Getting out of the car, it was a group of guys standing on the corner. My neighborhood was close knit, we knew everyone. We all grew up together, but I didn’t recognize the people that were out there now.
“Excuse me, can I talk to you for a minute?” I looked over to where the voic
e was coming from and my heart skipped a beat. The guy was fine as hell and I knew he couldn’t be talking to me, he had to be talking to Jess. His dreads were pulled up into a half ass ponytail, but they were neat. The t shirt he wore was fitting on his muscles look like it was made just for him. I had never seen that many tats on one person before. Looking at his sexy yellow complexion, I felt myself getting moist. I was still a virgin, but my girl still worked. Turning my gaze away from him, I grabbed my bags so that him and Jess could talk.
“You just gone walk away like that?” Turning around, I realized he was talking to me.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were speaking to me.”
“I’m Sosa, what’s your name?”
“Like Chief Chris?” Him and Jess started laughing.
“Girl, it’s Chief Keef. So embarrassing.” Mumbling some more shit about me, she walked off. Feeling lame, I apologized.
“I’m sorry, I’m not good with all that stuff. I’m Auri.”
“It’s all good ma. Where you coming from?”
“Auriana, you didn’t come all the way from Massachusetts to sit outside and talk to strangers. Get your ass in this house and come speak to your mama.” My dad was on the porch yelling at me. Embarrassed, I was done with this conversation.
“It was nice meeting you.” Walking off, he grabbed my hand.
“I’ll be seeing you again ma. Believe that.” My panties got wet again and I rushed in the house. Glancing back out the window, I wondered who Sosa was. My daddy jerked me out of my thoughts.
“Lil girl, you will not talk to those niggas on that corner. You not about to get caught up with them and their mess. Do you hear me?”
“Daddy, I was just wondering who they were. I’ve never seen them before.”
“Some lil punks that decided they wanted to flood our block with drugs. Stay away from them Auriana. Those boys are trouble.”
“Okay daddy I will.” I would have to try my best to avoid Sosa. I needed to stay away from him. Everything I worked for was to get away from this place and all of the stuff happening in my city. I couldn’t get caught up and I was only here for 2 weeks. That’s not long, I should be able to avoid him. Stealing one last glance out the window, my body shivered as I watched him laugh and joke with his friends. Everything in me told me to stay away from him, but something about him made me want to know more. Just looking at his movements and the way he laughed had me wanting to be wrapped in his arms. Just as easy as I could tell he was fine, I also knew I should stay the hell away from him and my intentions were to do just that. I would stay far away from Sosa.
CHAPTER 2- SOSA
Getting ready for my lil homie Delow’s party, I thought about Auri. She was definitely feeling the kid and I couldn’t wait to get up in that shit. I moved to Chicago three months ago to help my cousin Deleon out. He wanted to get out the game, but he didn’t want some niggas he didn’t know taking over. To be honest, he really didn’t know me like that either. I haven’t seen that nigga since we were kids. He was never really my crowd anyway because he was three years older than me, but he knew I was doing big things in New York and it was a smart move on his part to give this shit to me. As soon as I got here, I brought my own niggas in. These mother fuckers down here were soft and I made sure they knew shit was gone change. I remember the first time I told these niggas we were gone set up on Van Buren and Kildare. They started telling me about this old nigga that was gone call the police and shit. Going on and on about how he didn’t play that shit. I caught his ass coming in one night and knocked his old ass out. Putting my gun to his temple, I let him know if the police even looked my way I was going to make him watch as I fucked and killed his wife. I ain’t had a problem out that nigga since. Imagine my surprise when he came out on the porch to get Auri. My dick got hard at the thought of this nigga face when he found out I was fucking his daughter.
“Hey nigga, bring your pretty ass on. You gone make me late for my own party cus you gotta fix ponytails and shit.” Delow yelled from the front room.
“Nigga if you the first one at your own damn party you lame as a mother fucker.” Jumping in the shower, I decided to hurry up and get dressed before his bitch ass started crying. Once I made sure everything was in place, I walked out so we could head to this party. “Bring your cry baby ass on. Same bitches gone be here and your ass acting thirsty.” Waving me off we walked out the door and jumped in my Lexus truck. I wasn’t done fucking with his ass though.
“These bitches ain’t shit no way, but you niggas lose yall mind over some pussy.”
“You crazy as hell. Chicago got some bad ass bitches. Them hoes in New York all stuck up and shit.” My nigga Fila decided to join in.
“I’m not saying they ugly, but them bitches too strong minded.”
“The fuck.” Both of the niggas yelled out together and started laughing.
“I need a weak bitch. Nigga ain’t got time for all that talking back and shit.”
“Nigga you crazy as hell. Did you bring the white girl? We need to get this shit started right now.” Delow was starting to get a coke habit. We dibbled and dabbled, but he always wanna be high and shit now.
“I got it, but you gone wait until we get there. Damn you just thirsty all around the board.”
“Fuck you nigga.” Laughing at his ass we got out the whip and walked in the party. Just as I thought, the same bitches that be throwing pussy at us was in the building. All these hoes wanted to do was fuck and beg. They wanted a nigga to supply they weed and drinking habit. I ain’t no trick ass nigga, but I don’t mind pimping a bitch. That was my dream to be the biggest drug dealing pimp to walk the streets. That’s why I couldn’t fuck with no strong minded bitch with goals. I needed a hoe with self esteem issues. As I laughed at myself, Auri and her friend walked in. I walked over to her quick as hell before the next nigga tried to get her.
“I told you I would see you again.” She looked up at me and smiled, but it quickly went away.
“Hey, it’s Sosa right?” I know damn well she didn’t forget my name. We just met a couple hours ago.
“Yea it’s Sosa.” Turning her head, I could tell she was trying to avoid a nigga.
“Introduce me to your friends.” Delow ass was being thirsty as usual.
“I only know Auri. She never introduced me to her homie.” Her friend walked right up to Delow.
“I’m Jess. Where the bottle at? I’m trying to get turned up.” That’s what I meant. These bitches were all the same. Delow grabbed her around her waist and she let him. While they were hugged up, I decided to see what kind of bitch Auri was.
“So, what you do in Massachusetts?” Glancing up at me I could see the innocence in her eyes. She was gorgeous as fuck. She had her hair cut in this short style and it was in this purple color. Not that ghetto ass purple either and she was yellow just how I liked my bitches. If you didn’t look into her eyes, you would think she was no different from anybody else. Just a gorgeous ass gold digger trying to get a nigga to take care of her. She looked almost scared and tamed. That’s the kind of bitch I needed to be on the level I wanted to be. I had to play my cards right though.
“I go to Harvard.” This might not be the kind of bitch I’m looking for. If she goes to that school then she smart as hell.
“That’s whats up ma. You want a drink or something?”
“I don’t drink or smoke.” She dropped her head like she was embarrassed. Just as I was about to say something her friend Jess walked up.
“Here bitch. Since you only agreed to one party, your ass about to turn up. Drink this shit so we can get this shit started.” I could tell Auri didn’t want to, but she took the cup and started sipping. Just off the brief encounter I had with Jess, I could tell I didn’t like her ass, but she did help me realize that you could push Auri into doing shit she didn’t want to do. Delow was right on cue.
“Let’s head to the back and I’ll show yall how to turn up the real way.” Jess didn’t need any c
onvincing, she was on his heels. Reluctantly, Auri followed. Doing my Stevie J face and hand rub, I walked to the back room with everyone else. This night was turning out better than I expected.
CHAPTER 3- JESS
You could tell Auri ass didn’t want to take the cup, but I didn’t give a fuck. I was tired of her ass always being the buzz kill. She was my best friend and I loved her like a sister, but we were in college and the bitch acted like we were in Sunday School. She never loosened up. Everything was always about school and homework. We were 20 years old, I wanted to party sometimes. At school, I could never convince her to go out with me. Most times I ended up partying by myself. That usually landed me in the bed of some random nigga, but at least I could say I was enjoying my life. I was living it up and having a great time and she was stuck in a fucking dorm room reading. When you out kicking it, you want to be with your best friend, your rider. Shocked wasn’t the word, when she agreed to come out tonight. I planned to make sure she was lit, that way she would want to do it on her own next time.
Walking in the back room, I didn’t know what we were about to do, but I was always down for whatever. A party girl to the core is what the fuck I was. Looking over at Auri, I knew she was scared shitless. Being her friend for so long I could tell her emotions right off. Walking over to her, I pushed her further so she wouldn’t back out.
“Bitch, if you don’t stop babysitting that damn drink. Just take it back in one gulp. Trust me you will feel better.” Looking uncertain, she took the cup to her mouth and threw it back. The nigga Sosa she was with started smirking. “That’s my best friend, that’s my best friend.” Listening to the music, five minutes later she was up dancing. I couldn’t believe my eyes. She was finally having a good time. Sosa pulled a package out his pocket.
“Now it’s time for the real turn up. Delow, close the door and lock it.” Sosa poured white powder on the table. “Yall ever did coke before?” Auri eyes got so big, I thought they were gone pop out of her head.
